Product recalls

During the year, product recalls were conducted as a precaution to prevent customer exposure to potentially unsafe products, as outlined below.

Bunnings

Bunnings did not implement any product safety recalls in relation to its direct sourced product range. Bunnings supported 10 third-party suppliers to implement product recalls related to tools, electrical and chemical products. Customers were notified of product recalls online and in-store, with Bunnings directly contacting customers with transactions where contact data was available.

Kmart Group

Kmart

Product safety recalls are conducted as required or as a precautionary measure to eliminate customer exposure to potentially unsafe products. Kmart conducted four product recalls, compared to five recalls the previous year.

Target

As a result of concerted efforts to improve its quality assurance and control processes, Target did not conduct product safety recalls. This builds on the significant improvements of the previous financial year, during which there were only four recalls.

Catch

Catch conducted one recall.

Officeworks

There were recalls of wireless earbuds, a wireless charger and four models of power banks as a precaution. As a result of identified potential issues, stricter product testing protocols for these product categories have been implemented and a formal after-market testing process has been rolled out. Officeworks advertises recalls widely through the ACCC, its website, signage on stores and a variety of media sources. Officeworks is constantly looking at ways to improve communication with potentially affected customers to inform them about recalls.

Industrial and safety

Coregas, NZ Safety Blackwoods and Workwear Group again maintained zero own-brand recalls.
